So, today, I was at Kings Dominion with my friend. And i am a very very small person 4 foot 5 (and im almost 14) So im short. Anyways, when they go around to check your seatbelts, they dont do an outstanding job at making sure your strapped in properly. So I always tug on the seatbelt to make sure its safe.
Well, after they checked me seatbelt, i pulled on it, and it came unbuckled, and i couldnt buckle it again. So i started yelling, but only the people standing in line could hear me.
So i started screaming, and no one did anything but look at me, so once it started moving (slowly..) a lady that worked there come up to us(as it was moving) and asked in a rude way, what is wrong.
Anyways.. i mananged to buckle it.. and i was fine, but..
do you think that was safe????? or am i just freaking out?

I am not sure which ride you are referring to, but on the coasters the seatbelt usually serves as a backup to a restraint, such as a lapbar. Ride attendants usually check the lapbar itself to make sure it is locked. I have been to some parks (Holiday World is a good example) where attendants quickly check the seatbelt and lapbar, by gently pulling on the seatbelt and pulling up on the lapbar. Ride operations are fast and efficient at Holiday World, I wish they could train ride operation teams at all the other parks!
If a seatbelt is available, riders should expect it to stay buckled. It is a good idea to give the seatbelt a little tug to make sure the buckle is secured properly. You probably weren't in immediate danger, but if a seatbelt is there, it needs to be fastened. The seatbelt is more of a precaution than anything else,and it functions mostly as a backup to a lapbar or shoulder restraint.
The attendant shouldn't have been rude to you. You were concerned because your seatbelt wasn't fastened. You were trying to obey the rules and you had a legitimate concern. I would contact the Guest Relations at King's Dominion, and tell them what happened. Park management should be made aware of the situation. Park management needs to correct the situation; whether it is further safety training or disciplinary action, to make sure this doesn't happen again.
