Brush On Bed Liners -- Tips From Experience

SCREEECH!!! Oops… another scratch!  Do you need a bed liner for your truck? Why not consider the great selection of brush on bed liners.

What is a brush on bed liner?  It's a thick, textured paint that is applied to your truck bed with a paint brush. You can use paint rollers and paint guns too!

A liquid liner goes on a new truck bed pretty simply. The whole bed is sanded with heavy grit sandpaper to give the liner liquid something to "grab." After sanding, it is probably a good idea to spray a can of primer in the bed for added stick and protection. Then paint the liner on. Use a paint brush, or paint roller. This bed liner material is thick enough that it smoothes out very well on its own.

With a rusty bed you will have to work a little harder to get a good solid liner installation. The rusty areas of the bed should be wire brushed and sanded well to remove loose rust. Then you should paint all of the rusty places with rust converter. Finally, spray on the primer and bed liner paint. This will take a little longer to do, but it will give you a good solid bed liner.

 It is a good idea to mask the edges of the bedrails and tape newspaper on the sides of your truck. This helps to protect your truck's paint from bits of flying bed liner!

Now you have a good, textured bed liner. If you ever rub the liner off in places, all you have to do is lightly sand and repaint the area.

Brush on bed liners are not for everyone. But there are reasons why they have become popular liners in America. They're protective, permanent, easily repaired, good looking, and a rewarding DIY project.
