Gold Foil
Gold Foil

I am looking to cover wooden rounds with gold foil.?
Can a gold spray paint be used? I cannot find a source to purchase a gold foil. I am making a cupcake tier.
Sorry have no idea what a "cupcake tier" is, but if the items you'd like to cover are wood, you can use either a metallic-colored spray paint, or you can apply gold leaf (gold transfer "foil" is also possible but not sure that's what you want and would be much fiddlier--and pearlier looking).
If the wood is bare, you'd probably need to seal it before using a spray (use a "primer" or several coats of paint).
If the wood is bare and you wanted to leaf it, you'd do that by applying a permanent white glue to the surface of the item then letting the glue dry till tacky (or applying "sizing" which is similar and often comes with leafing kits).
Then you'd "gild" the surface by applying feather-light sheets of (gold) metallic leaf**, and sealing afterwards to avoid darkening from oxidation.
If you want to read more about leaf in general, and applying it with a brush and to avoid oils from your hands, etc., check out this page at my site (we also use leaf on polymer clay while the clay is raw and sticky, but it can also be applied to clay that's been baked which would be about the same method as attaching it to anything else):
