Can a 2002 Nissan Maxima's stock Bose subwoofer slot support a much heavier 8 inch subwoofer?
I know it can accept an aftermarket 8 inch subwoofer, but the stock subwoofer is much lighter than a 1000 watt subwoofer, can it be supported?
Yes, it should be fine, the more important question, is how deep is the stock enclosure, and where are you finding an 8 inch 1000 watt Sub?
You must mean a 1000 watt max sub. and there's more to consider than just the power handling, you need to think about the size of the stock enclosure vs the size enclosure the sub will need, not to mention the mounting depth that the aftermarket sub will require.
Your best bet is the JL Audio 8w3v3-4, it has 250 watts RMS power, and does not require a large enclosure. For your Stock enclosure and a 250 watt RMS amp, it will work just fine.
The big brother to that is the 8W7-3, but it will need a bigger enclosure than your stock location, and a 500watt RMS amp, and that will set you back $500ish.
Don't take my word for it though, cruise through the Maxima forums, seems like it's something that someone has done before.
