Why is my finger tip white?
Over a year ago I was cutting some fabric with a rotary cutter and sliced a teeny tiny section off the end of my left ring finger. The skin where the cut was has kind of a whitish tint to it. It's not dry skin, as it's been there for months. It feels like it isn't as sensitive as my other finger tips.
Could be scar tissue or callused area.
Both are a build up of extra skin as a "protectant", the scar tissue is mainly an incorrect healing of the area (meaning "didn't align right", best way to state that).
This also could be "desensitized" cause the area had a trauma to it (just barely enough to injury the nerves in that fingertip). So you would not feel as sensitive when you touch that area.
If there is a big concern on your part, you should go see a dermatologist.
