How can I find out the value of my Chinese chairs from mother's estate & their value?
They are painted a deep deep reddish color on the wood. The backs and seats are upholstered with a fine embossed fabric that has Chinese figures on it. There are upholstery tacks around the edges to keep it in place. Very very nice- and old.
Call your homeowners insurance agent, and ask them for a referral for an insurance appraisal. They should be able to give you the name of an appraiser that can give you the insurance value for the chairs. This will give you a general idea of what the replacement value is.
