Vintage sewing patterns - what do these measurements mean?
I expect this is horrendously obvious, but for example: 30-25-33.
Bust waist hips?
Yes, bust, waist, hips in inches. What is interesting is that from time to time there is a survey of shapes, and you will find that the proportions change, for example now the waist size is slightly bigger in relation to the bust and hips than it used to be - better nutrition and a more sedentary lifestyle!
These particular measurements look like dress pattern "half-sizes", as normally the hips are a couple of inches broader than the bust.
If you are going to make the pattern, be careful with things like the length of a blouse, as in the second world war, blouses were short to save fabric (and coupons) and would not tuck into a skirt or trousers as you would expect them to nowadays.
